What is the benefit of a carbon paddle?
Light swing weight and stiffness. The stiff nature of carbon allows us to use less material, thus lighter swing weight while still achieving our high specification standards for performance, durability and strength.
What makes a paddle more or less durable?
Paddle durability is a function of the type and quantity of materials used and the manufacturing method. Durability can be increased greatly with increased quantities of materials. Often this added durability comes at the sacrifice of increased weight. We strive to create the best performing paddles in terms of design and function by balancing durability, weight and feel, which of course determines their performance.
What is your most impact resistant Whitewater paddle?
Choose one of our Premium paddles for the greatest impact resistance.
What is the advantage of Werner's Performance Core paddles?
Our Performance Core paddles have a full foam core which creates a buoyant feel to the paddle. This buoyancy makes paddling easier by floating the blade out at the end of the stroke; it also has advantages in rolling and bracing. While our Performance Core paddles are very durable they cannot take the same type of impact that our Performance, Premium and Recreational paddles can. Choose Performance Core if you want the advantages of the smooth and buoyant feel of the full foam core and can treat your paddle with the respect of a fine tool that it is.
How do I care for my Adjustable Ferrule?
You can keep your Adjustable Ferrule System working at peak performance by following three simple steps:Step 1. After every use take your paddle apart and rinse both sides inside and out with fresh water.
Step 2. Store your paddle hanging apart with blades up.
Step 3. NEVER use a lubricant on your ferrule! Our ferrules don't like lubricants but they love lots of water!

Can you retro-fit my paddle with the adjustable ferrule system?
No. The shaft used with our Adjustable Ferrule System is different than the shaft used with our other ferrule systems. The shaft has been specially modified to accommodate the precise fit of our Adjustable Ferrule System.
Do you sell ferrule kits?
No. To ensure the performance and reliability of your two-piece paddle meets your expectations we do all ferrule conversions and repairs at our factory.
What is the advantage of your Neutral Bent Shaft paddles?
Werner's Neutral bent shafts naturally align wrists to reduce fatigue and give you more hand to shaft contact while using a loose grip allowing you to reduce strain. This is particularly important for paddlers that have repetitive stress injuries to the wrist, elbow and shoulders. Proper paddling form is equally important in combating overuse injuries. The Neutral bent shaft paddles give you an added advantage at the end of a long paddle when your form begins to break down.
Can I use my Werner Touring paddle in a whitewater river?
No, this is not recommended. Our touring paddles are recommended for touring in the ocean, lakes and gentle moving rivers. We do not recommend them for use in dynamic whitewater environments.
Can I use my Werner Touring paddle in the surf zone?
This is not recommended without being properly instructed with techniques for paddling in the surf zone. Our touring paddles are recommended for touring in the ocean, lakes and gentle moving rivers. We recommend participation in an instructional program to understand proper paddling technique before paddling in the surf zone.
What is the best choice for a SUP in a Class II and above river environment?
We recommend the Stinger for dynamic river situations. The laminate construction and reinforced tip offers superior strength and durability. The blade has a narrow tip for a soft catch and allows you to stab precisely to avoid rocks; the blade then flairs to offer more power through the midpoint of the stroke. This unique shape provides positive bracing. Click here to find out more about Stinger.
Can I get a new blade put on my paddle?
In most situations we can replace a blade for approximately half the cost of a paddle. Each situation is unique and must be evaluated by our repair department. Please call us at 800 275-3311 to review your situation.
