Philosophy

Ultimate Paddle Performance is Werner Paddles mission. . . and promise to you.

We believe Advanced Designs and a Great Fit are the key ingredients to achieving Ultimate Paddle Performance. . . therefore, to fulfill our promise we focus enormous amounts of energy to developing a complete selection of advanced paddle designs.

Advanced Designs means much more than great blade designs and light weight construction. It includes maintaining bomber durability, shaping comfortable grips and providing amazing features like our newly patented Adjustable Ferrule System, (US patent 6881111). It also means ensuring all these features work together as a whole to create a well balanced paddle.

Great Fit is achieved when paddle features are chosen specifically to fit you and your paddling style. By offering a complete selection of blade sizes and styles, as well as several shaft options, we give every kayaker the opportunity to select and combine features for a custom paddle fit.

Ultimate Paddle Performance may sound like something marketed to "pros", but the fact of the matter is everyone, regardless of their level of experience, can benefit from a well designed paddle that fits properly. Ultimately it means you enjoy greater comfort, reduced fatigue and enhanced performance.

At Werner Paddles we promote the philosophy of using a light grip while paddling. We believe a light grip minimizes fatigue of the hands, arms, and joints, and over time will reduce the potential of developing carpal tunnel or tendonitis. We strongly believe the ability to use a light grip lies in combining a well designed paddle with the right paddle choice to fit your individual needs. Visit our Interactive Fit Guide.

There are several factors that may cause a paddler to over-grip the shaft. To name just a few, over-gripping may be a subconscious effort to control a blade that flutters or torques in your hand. It may also be caused by the effort needed to hold a shaft that is too large and/or simply that the paddle is not a good fit.

Werner Paddles' advanced blades and shafts incorporate carefully designed features that create a smooth and stable stroke so a paddler can lightly grip the shaft while pulling the blade easily through the water. To get a good fitting paddle Werner offers several blade and shaft choices at no additional charge.

We encourage you to understand the importance of choosing the right paddle.
